With 12 months of experience, predominantly spanning the retail and aviation sectors, previous roles have included creating and implementing effective social media strategies, WordPress website management and B2C writing.

Mainly focused on B2C, this role developed my written skills through press releases, online consumer content and the creation of social media plans. It also included directing on-site photography and videography shoots later used to craft engaging social media content.

EASTSIDE PR

For this job, I worked with a small team from Eastside PR to run the Birmingham City University School of Media social media accounts. We worked on the #WMGeneration campaign to convince Channel 4 to relocate to the West Midlands. This improved my social media and technological skills but also increased my creativity (in relation to content creation).

A voluntary role which aided the running of the CIPR Midlands PRide Awards 2017 and required that I help organise and assist the presentation of the awards to the presenters, winners and runners-up.

Having performed this role the previous year, I became part of a small group from within the team who were responsible for developing the mentor-training program. This helped improve my communication, leadership and planning skills.

As a mentor, I was a touch point for new students to the School of Media helping them with their transition into university life, which meant my listening and communication skills were relied on heavily. As a team, we were nor nominated for and won the Team of the Year and Vice Chancellor and SU President Award.

Taking place in several under-developed communities in Thailand's Northern regions, teaching focused on basic media literacy skills. Communication was challenging due to the language barrier, as a result, alternative methods had to be improvised to ensure the lessons were delivered as effectively as possible.

VOLUNTEER TEACHER

AUGUST 2017

Volunteered to sit on the committee in charge of organising the BCU Student PR Conference. This required liaising internally with the rest of the team, university security and campus services and externally with PR professionals to find guest speakers and panellists, as well as attendees.

As part of the B-Hive Competition (Pitch Consultancy), I had to create a PR Campaign in response to a set brief. I was chosen as a finalist and had to pitch to a panel of PR professionals. This allowed me to explore my creativity whilst developing my written communication skills.

For this job, I had to create a poster design for a fundraising event being held by Variety - The Children's Charity. This experience allowed me to use my creativity whilst strengthening my Adobe software skills.
